Wake up Cyprus – Germany reaches record high in renewable energy

Germany is now producing a quarter of its electricity from renewable sources accounting for 67.9 billion kilowatt hours for the first half of 2012. While Wind energy is the largest renewable contributor with 9.2% its ironic to hear that a country with a tiny fraction of the sunshine of Cyprus receives 5.3% of its electricity from solar energy. Solar energy production increased by 47% during the past 12 months while the installed solar panels in Germany account for a third of the panels in the world.
