Microsoft announced yesterday their new free email service Outlook.com. If you want a brand new shiny @outlook.com email address head over to outlook.com and sign up. If you already have a Hotmail.com or Live.com e-mail accounts then you can upgrade to the new service while keeping your old e-mail address (Go to Options and click “Upgrade to Outlook.com”). The service offers a fresh and minimal Windows 8 Metro inspired user interface that makes other webmail services look dated. It supports all of the modern features you would expect from a webmail client, including social integration with Facebook and Twitter and allows you to import your e-mails, contacts and settings from other providers such as GMail.
Six hours after the initial announcement there were already 1 million sign ups so if you would like to reserve your name on the new @outlook.com domain hurry up.
Will this become the new webmail standard? Only time will tell!
